Leland Conway's Recommended Reading

Liberal Fascism - Jonah Goldberg:  Many unenlightened liberals mistakenly throw the term "facist" around - especially in regard to President Bush and generally in regard to conservative philosophy.  Jonah Goldberg puts into clear, concise words what we all know.  Liberals are closer to fascists than they seem to know themselves.  A fascinating read and should be required reading for any conservative looking for a debate!.

Radical Son - David Horowitz:  Born to a communist activist family, the author takes you with him on his journey to conservatism.  An exciting and insightful tale that enforces the argument that logical though eventually leads to independent conservatism.

Atlas Shrugged - Ayn Rand:  The author Rand, predicts that the quest for excellence will wane and apathy and entitlement will be the down fall of our democracy.

Profiles in Courage - John F. Kennedy:  During his years in the Senate, future President JFK wrote this book.  It's basically a collection of short anecdotes profiling courageous and sometimes costly stands taken by great American leaders and patriots from our past.

Titan: The Life of John D. Rockefeller - Ron Chernow:  You get the straight scoop, the good, the bad and the ugly as the author takes you up close and personal in the life of the world's richest man.  You marvel at the contradiction of cruelty and sympathy and how such extremes can exist within a single human being.  This is a thick book that is a fast read chronicalling all that was right and wrong with the American Revolution.

Leadership - Rudy Giuliani:  10 tips for powerful leadership told in Giuliani's straight forward and humorous style.

The Tipping Point - Malcom Gladwell:  This guy is off the wall, but his insight into the psychology of the masses and how thoughts and ideas become popular trends is very enlightening.  A great book to read if you wish to dissect and debate with other points of view.

The One Thing You Need to Know, Marcus Buckingham:  This intelligent Brit turns our current thinking on management best practices upside down.  He's funny, he's intellectual, and it's all common sense!

My Buddy Brian Goettl Does a Great Parody of Barack Obama Strategy Session:

In a Conservative Edge exclusive, CE "journalist"  M. Easley  Impressed  was granted exclusive access to an Obama strategy session on board the Obama campaign plane.   The  brain storming  took place late on the evening of August 3rd, 2008.

Dateline: On board O-Force One, somewhere over the unwashed masses
His thin fingers were drumming nervously on the side of the rich, Corinthian leather covered recliner emblazoned with “Obama: President 08”; it was well after midnight and the “Great One”, (as my fellow journalists and I had begun calling Obama), who appeared aloof and cooly detached, was looking for answers.  The adoring Germans had properly welcomed him as the messiah  one week ago last Wednesday. Yet, here it was just ten short days later, and his lead over McCain had evaporated. Read the Rest
