IF THEY WORK, WHY BUST THEIR CHOPS? After reading stories about private non-profits who do work for the state paying executives big salaries with nice perks, I always ask myself: If the state is getting results for a reasonable price, does it matter? This is another one of those stories. Mental health advocates say Bluegrass Regional Mental Health-Mental Retardation Board (which could use a name update if you ask me) do a good job providing services for the mentally ill in Kentucky. Does it matter how they spend the money if they are doing a good job at a price the Commonwealth has agreed to? If there is the feeling that Kentucky is overpaying, then negotiate the contract down. Don't act like a well run organization is the problem. It's the folks who work for the state who need to get their act together.
