Ok I'm going to try to put this nicely.
People who are now freaking out because a Republican mentioned cutting funds to PBS, yet have never actually donated a dime to this organization which they suddenly care so deeply about, are frauds and fools and a symbol of everything that is wrong with America. They "care" about things insofar as their concern requires nothing of then but submission to government.
If people love PBS so much there shouldn't be a problem. All of these folks posting Big Bird memes will call in during the next telethon and pledge a few bucks and PBS will live on forever. Or for as long as its cause is trendy. Which will be for maybe the next two or three days, until the media gives these Twitter champs another cause celebre to feign passion for.
Oh and by the way, Sesame Street makes millions in donations and merchandizing. Elmo will be just fine.
But I guess it makes sense that all of these people have such an affinity for puppets. After all, it takes one to know one.
