A 50-year-old British woman is on trial for killing her cheating husband in 2021. Prosecutors said that Fiona Beal stabbed Nick Billingham in the neck during sex because he was having an affair.

Beal then told her friends and family that she tested positive for COVID-19 and had to self-isolate for ten days. During that time, prosecutors allege that Beal buried Billingham in the garden in the backyard of their home. They detailed her purchases of cleaning products, gardening tools, and materials used to wrap the body before she buried it.

She then spent the next few months using Billingham's phone to message his friends and relatives, telling them he was dating another woman and moved in with her.

Authorities discovered his body four months later after finding journal entries detailing the days after she killed Billingham.

Beals pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges but argued she did not murder Billingham. Instead, her defense is claiming that she was the victim of an abusive relationship and eventually broke down when she killed him. They also said that she suffered from mental health issues.

The trial is expected to last six weeks.
